S.P.A.W.N was privelledged to receive a grant from Bolton Green Umbrella to create a rockery in our area. We were joined by our regular volunteers Lewis, Nigel and Paul who have shown dedication in helping to create our conservation area, we couldn’t do what we do without them giving up their time and hard work.
We started with an unkept area at the end of our flower bed. After weeding and turning over the soil we were ready to start. We layed the rocks and planted inbetween them, finished off by adding gravel to keep everything in place.
We had a little money left over so we decided to buy some bulbs and plant them in the rockery and in our boat planter. Can’t wait to see the results in the spring.
Now the rockery is settled we have noticed some new residents, newts, not the Great Crested, it just shows by creating habitats you help the diveristy.
