Wayne Dixon

Group Logo The Voluntary Groups page on the Bolton Green Umbrella website is normally - as its name suggests - for groups of volunteers who care for their environment in Bolton. But we are making an exception for Wayne Dixon - although he is NOT a "group", he's an individual and he is NOT from Bolton, he is from Blackburn! However, he is going something remarkable which is inspiring and encourage people all over the country. We want to record Wayne's story this way rather than just a one-off news story so that people in Bolton can follow his journey.

With his North Inuit dog Koda he is walking the entire coast of the UK litter-picking as he goes to raise funds for two charities, Mind, the mental health charity and the Northern Inuit Society, and also to raise awareness of the litter problem we have in this country. He is also a #LitterHeroes Ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy.

In order to do this he is living on 50 per week, so is hugely grateful for the donations of food and equipment which are often given to him by people he meets and businesses who hear what he is doing. Please look at his Facebook page, which he updates very regularly.
