Full Description:
In January this year we took on a challenge!.
An allotment which has been left untended and neglected for approximately 70 years into a welcoming community garden.
The community garden is for the whole community to enjoy. Belmont Village, a small village of about 600 people has very limited garden space with local, mainly terraced housing, built in a mill town.
The plot is 28 x 18 metres
and is situated at the end of a row of allotments at the end of Ryecroft Lane, beautiful views over winterhill, bordering on SSSI land.
Some allotment vegetable growing space, but our goal is to create an escape for individuals, a relaxed area for groups to meet outside, picnics etc and are for villagers to get involved; meeting others.
Long list of plans to develop the area, dry pond to a pagolla. passing walkers and village visitors being welcome to enjoy.
