We are very pleased to launch our small grants programme for 2024/2025 using funding received from Bolton Council, which they acquired from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
We at BGU were delighted with the success of the small grants programme for 2023/2024 which met with widespread approval, in particular for the simplicity of the application process. Here is a link to our BGU Grant Feedback Report which documents how all the £25,000 UKSPF funding was spent/allocated: BGU_Grant_Feedback_Report.pdf (boltongreenumbrella.org.uk) . Page 8 lists all the groups which received a grant with a link to the feedback they provided on how it was spent, and the benefits it provided.
This year’s programme follows the same lines, with a few minor adjustments to the guidelines, link below. Please check these carefully to make sure your group is eligible:
BGU Grant Guidelines
The aim of these BGU grants is to provide quick and easy access for small groups who are registered on the BGU website to access a relatively small sum of money (£200). We know how difficult it is for small voluntary groups to get funding – the seemingly endless hoops to jump through, having to justify the “need” for what you want to do ….. and feeling discouraged and demoralised if the bid is rejected. So we’ve tried to take all that into account and take a flexible and understanding approach, while at the same time carrying out due diligence to ensure that this public money is being distributed to genuine cases

So please take a look – and if you have questions feel free to get in touch, we want to help. In particular we want to encourage groups who did not apply last year to do so this time.
Thank-you for all the wonderful work you do for the environment and green spaces in Bolton.
