Volunteer Vaults – new sites?

Bolton Green Umbrella Monday 16 February 2026

In 2024 Bolton Council installed a number of Volunteer Vaults in ten locations across the town. The tough cabinets are designed to protect tools and deter vandals, and are made of steel, securely locked and firmly fixed to paths and walls. Each one is located close to where volunteer groups regularly work, making it easier for them to pick up litter, tidy paths and improve green spaces in their communities. Read about the vaults on Bolton Council website.

Some new vaults have now been acquired and Gareth Pike, the Volunteer co-ordinator, is asking volunteers for suggestions for where they should be placed. Click here to see the map of current sites (in orange) and ideas for new sites (in purple). If you have any ideas or would like to provide feedback please contact loveboltonhatelitter@bolton.gov.uk
