Feedback on BGU donation: Barrow Bridge

Friends of Barrow Bridge | Tuesday 04 October 2022 | 0 Comments

The group has used £116 of the £200 grant, purchasing drain rods, A frame name boards, tool hire and chainsaw accessories.

The groups main activities have been focused on restoring the multi-use bridleway route leading from Barrow Bridge village to the wider countryside, a real `town to country` link. To that end the group in partnership with Bolton council's rights of way section, were successful in securing a grant of £3,400 from the Peak & Northern Footpath Society.
Professional contractors utilised these funds to remove trees/vegetation, re-profile the surface and open up blocked drains.

The Friends of group have, and continue adding value to this work including; stone pitching sessions, vegetation management and drain clearance.

Our meeting frequency has been hampered by a long-term road closure near the work site and a long recouperation from illness
