BGU Grant F'back 2024 Harpers Lane

Harpers Lane Community Garden | Wednesday 13 March 2024 | 0 Comments

We can't thank you enough BGU!! It's so good to feel supported and appreciated.
The funding has been spent on purchasing shrubs for winter interest. These are being grown on as we bought small to have more plants.. We are currently planning where to put them in the garden to get the best of them. We spent the rest of the money on spring flowers to brighten up the garden. This splash of colour has instantly made a difference and this has been commented on by the public.

The garden is well loved by the community but has tended to look a bit stark over the winter months. The grant award has enabled us to change that and the spring flowers will also remain in the garden to bloom every year.

This grant has had a very positive effect on our volunteers; they feel recognised for what they are doing and feel that they are creating something even more beautiful.
The garden is a much used cut through. The community has benefitted by having a bright and cheerful green space to walk through and visit.

Feedback from local residents is very positive with comments like:  “Oh! It’s lovely” sums it up. Other comments are “it is so nice to have some colour again” and “just a bit of colour makes such a difference.” At this time of year we have not yet been in the garden often enough to talk to many residents yet.
