BGU Grant F'back 2024 Tonge Moor Allot

Thank-you so much for the BGU Grant. We found the application form very straight forward; the form wasn’t too overwhelming
We have purchased two six-foot, heavy duty folding tables and six robust stacking chairs. Previously we have had to rely on the generosity of other groups to loan us their tables and chairs for our events, so have been severely restricted as to what we can arrange. We will now be able to organise more community gatherings, allotment open days, produce sales, competitions, and instruction and training days, i.e. Pruning, bee keeping, planting pollinators etc
The fruit and vegetables that we produce on the allotments will be of better quality as we will be able to come together for training, and to swap hints and tips. We will have the facility to display our produce for competitions, and to sell surplus fruit and vegetables to the local community
Our volunteers will now be able to forward plan events, without having to worry about the availability of equipment loans. They are now encouraged to put forward ideas knowing that we now have the facilities to make their concepts viable.
In the long term we want to increase, through training, bee keeping and the use of pollinator plants to encourage bees, butterflies and birds onto the allotments. In turn this will produce copious, superior quality fruit and vegetables to supply plot holders and their families, and also the local community.
The grant will enable us to kick start a long-term project which will support allotment holders to grow more excellent fruit and vegetables, the surplus of which we can offer to local residents using our new tables to display the produce.
