BGU Grant F'back Flockton Court
Flockton Court Social Centre | Monday 25 March 2024 | 0 Comments
Thank-you for the grant from Bolton Green Umbrella. We have purchased perennial plants to plant in our raised beds.
We have a very large communal garden space with grass, raised beds, beds, many hanging baskets large patios and a pergola. The raised beds and beds on the ground take a lot of planting each year, as we usually put bedding plants in them. These cost a lot of money each year. We are planting perennial plants this year, to save us money and a lot of volunteer hours. These plants will come up year after year and will spread, making the raised and ground level beds look full and bright and colourful each year.
All our residents love either using the garden or looking out from their windows. It is really lovely, bright and colourful, and as volunteers we get a lot of pride from the comments that residents and visitors make about how nice it is. It is used an awful lot in the summer months, from people sitting chatting, using the pergola, we even have a garden party once a year and friends and family love the garden.
Residents and visitors are always complimenting us, and this makes us happy that all our hard work is worth it.
We know that once the plants are established and flowering in the summer months that our community of Flockton court will enjoy the garden to sit, come and help us with some volunteering hours and use the garden. There are also a number of residents that look out from their windows.
As we are planting perennials, this will also help future volunteers, as there wont be as much work to do in the garden, once they are established.
Residents are looking forward to getting back into the garden and enjoying the plants and seating areas.
