BGU Grant F'back 2024 St Georges

St Georges Resident group | Monday 25 March 2024 | 0 Comments

Many thanks for the BGU grant which we have used to buy pots, plants and wheelbarrow4

We have applied to the R4GM for the 1 tonne of compost, as our raised beds have sunken and need filling, and we have purchased some new pots and plants to improve the communal areas. Once everything starts to flower in May, we know that more residents will be encouraged to come and sit in the paved communal areas to sit, chat and socialise.

The wheelbarrow will be used greatly, as the communal areas are spread over the scheme, and on different levels, and it isn’t easy transporting soil, compost and plants from the car park to he areas at the back of the building. These areas have been quite neglected, so by sprucing up these areas, it will encourage residents to use them more. For those who cant get out of their flats, it will give them something brights and colourful to look at from their windows.

This has had positive effects on the volunteers, as other residents and visitors are stopping to chat with us when we are working in the garden, asking questions about what we are planting.

We know more residents will come out, once the weather improves, and this will have a positive impact on their mental well being.

We have had feedback from local residents asking questions. All looking forward to seeing the results in the summer months.
