Thank-you for the BGU grant to Eldon Extra Care Residents Group

We have purchased pots, plants and an umbrella for shade

Our communal garden patio is looking a bit ratty, and so we have decided to remove the garden shed (which is falling down), tidy up the patio and but all new pots and flowers to brighten up the space. We also need some shade, so we have purchased a garden umbrella.

All our residents love either using the garden or looking out from their windows. The garden is the only accessible outside green space for our residents, as we are extra care, and most residents have some mobility issues. They really enjoy sitting outside just to chat. We have friends and family volunteers who do a marvellous job in helping maintain the gardens, and all the residents really appreciate their efforts.

Once the patio area is spruced up, and is made to look welcoming and appealing, we know that more residents will use the space, which will be good for both their mental and physical wellbeing. Furthermore, with an additional space to site outside, it will encourage more residents into the garden.

We have had positive feedback and residents are looking forward to getting back into the garden and enjoying the plants and seating areas.
