The Gates Primary School Eco Team

The Friends of Westhoughton Station Tuesday 09 September 2025

Following on from the Eco Festival held at the school, we are looking to build up a partnership with them.  We have approval from the Station Management (thanks to Sarah Morgan at Northern Trains) to allow small numbers of pupils and supervising teachers to visit the station, under strict safety procedures of course.  They are looking to plant a small garden area for themselves just to the back of the platform, FoWS have cleared a space for them and will help maintain it.  Thanks to Mike Pryle, teached and environmantal lead, for organising.  This is a fantastic opportunity to involve the wider community in the station environment and encourage the next generation to look after their environment.
