Bolton Lads and Girls Club
Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC) is an innovative, dynamic, progressive, children and young people’s charity based in Bolton, established in 1889. Our mission is to enable children and young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to live healthier, happier and safer lives. Each year we support around 4,000 individuals through our services which are based at three sites across Bolton, and through our network of outreach, schools and community-based activity. We passionately believe that every child and young person deserves the best start in life and chance to fulfil their potential.
Today our offer comprises two main strands: Universal Youth Provision providing a vast array of youth club activities, sports, multi-media, social action and arts; and a Targeted Youth Service which provides critical support to some of our most vulnerable young people and families. Our current activities and programmes include:
Universal Provision:
• Evening Junior and Senior Youth Clubs, and Holiday provision
• Inclusive provision for young people with learning/physical Disabilities, SEND and EHCPs
• Sport Development in over 20 physical activities / sports
• Accreditation such as ASDAN, Arts Award and Duke of Edinburgh.
• Visual Arts, Dance, Music & Multi-media projects
• Enterprise and employability activities
• Refugee Integration Support and Engagement
• Assertive Place Based Outreach and Detached youth work
• National Citizen Service
• Volunteering
Targeted Youth Support:
• Mentoring and advocacy services for Care Experienced Children, Children Living At Home/edge of care and subject to child protection or early help plans
• Young Carers Service
• Family Support Service
• Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Support at BLGC and in schools
• Employability projects for ‘hidden’ young people and those who are NEET
• Counselling and therapeutic services
• Children’s Bereavement Service
• Safe Zone Mental Health crisis support
