Lock Down News from Harwood Hub

Hi Everyone, 

With the amazing help from Bolton Green Umbrella's kind donation we were able to buy a new sturdy gazebo, a family member jet washed the walls and the whole outside area . We bought and put stone down to make the floor safer in the winter months and managed to light up Harwood with our amazing Christmas tree and lights. Many people from our local community came and put a decoration on the tree and this really helped with many peoples Mental health , uplifting people's spirits and giving our community some happiness.

Sadly due to the lockdown restrictions in place , Harwood community Hub has been forced to close . We have challenged this with our local MPs and with the Council, however we are not classed as essential.

However our Grub Tub is still out and every week we are amazed at the generosity of the local people , we are able to take many bags of non- parishable donations to Urban Outreach every week. These donations go to help the many vulnerable people that are in our community , especially at this difficult time.

The good news is that due to the amazing response of our fundraising page , the fantastic donation from Green Umbrella, also money from our local council and other areas , we are in a position to buy a Wooden shed to house our books , jigsaws and bric - a - brac and ensure a future for the Hub.
We applied fro planning permission to put the structure at the front of the Community Hall and we are so pleased to announce that this has recently been granted.  

We are overwhelmed , what started in the first lock down , with just a few books has grown to be a real lifeline for so many people. Harwood  hub has provided books , jigsaws, bric a brac and toys but it has also brought people together. It has given people a purpose when out on their daily walks , we have helped families that were struggling by being able to provide household items that have been donated.
We now have our own FaceBook page were we post lots of updates and information .
Our 'Gazebo ' has stood the test of time and saw us through to Christmas but we are looking forward to being able to re -open (when the government permits) with a brand new wooden structure, we are also  hoping to have bookshelves inside ! 

Thank you to  Bolton Green Umbrella who donated to our Hub , right at the start . The Hub has been fantastic and will be again for our community !
