St Michael's School Earth Group update

St Michael's CEP Earth Group | Thursday 07 April 2022 | 0 Comments

Further to receiving our grant (pre-covid!) from Bolton Green Umbrella for outdoor planting and resources to enable care of the grounds by our pupils, we have continued to promote and develop our pupils' awareness of nature and also of growing both plants and vegetables. Over the last two years this has been incredibly beneficial for well-being and we have grown potatoes, carrots, onions along with providing fabulous displays of spring and summer plants for our pupils, staff and families to enjoy. Most recently our Earth Group (who meet after school each Monday during term time) have planted a range of sunflowers in three raised planters located on the front playground. The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine and as a school we wanted to show our solidarity with the people of Ukraine by growing these flowers from seeds to produce a visual symbol of hope. We are looking forward to seeing the sunflowers later this summer.
