Thank-you so much for the BGU Grant. The application process was easy and straightforward, and really useful information as well
The funding has been spent on purchasing equipment for litter picking that is not provided by Bolton council namely folding extra long litter pickers, home made litter picking trolleys, waterproof glove (spring sale) and extra thick winter gloves (winter sale), brush, shovel and rake.

We are trialling the folding extra long litter pickers for durability before buying more. Extra long litter pickers are useful for reaching under bushes but are usually seen as too difficult to carry around. Litter picking trolleys are for volunteers who are unable to carry bags of rubbish. Although the Council will provide gloves we want waterprrof ones for wet weather and extra thick ones as a number of our litter pickers suffer with circulatory problems. Brush shovel and rake are for clearing up areas we cannot usually deal with and will be held y the group leader.

It is lovely that the volunteers have been given this award. They feel recognised for what they are doing and feel that they can now clear up more thoroughly. Litter picking has been recognised as beneficial to the local community many of whom are fed up with living in a mess that they have not created.
