From the start of June 2024 The Rock Garden is now open to the public. We would like to thank everyone involved in making this possible from the park staff, Nigel and Zain from the parks department, our volunteers, Bolton Green Umbrella, local councillors and the people of Bolton who have requested that Bolton Council open the garden.
We hope that visitors enjoy the garden and it helps to encourage more people to volunteer with Friends of Moss Bank Park.
It is hoped that the garden can More.....

A description: By car. At the traffic lights at the junction of Moss Bank Way (A58), Captains Clough Road and Moss Lane turn to Moss Lane, but do not follow Moss Lane which bends 90 degrees to the right, but keep straight on with the gatehouse & bowling Greens to the left and the main carpark to the right. Follow this lane passed the ornate water trough until you reach brick wall on your right with playing fields on your left, at the end of the wall turn right onto the park cafe carpark. This is the carpark next to the Wall Garden where we usually meet up.
It is the smallest of the three car parks, very occasionally if there is an event on at the cafe or the Hive the carpark maybe full so we have to managed by parking at the main carpark and walk from there.
Walking similar to the car directions except at the start of the brick wall go through the Wall Garden Gate and walk through the garden, up the steps to the terrace inside the carpark gate.
We meet Weekly on Tuesdays between 10 am and 12 pm.

Thank-you for the grant from BGU.
We put the grant towards purchasing a emissions free cordless electric Stihl BGA 57 leaf-blower and accessories (AK20 battery and AL101 charger). It will speed up the collection of fallen leaves, allowing the group to recycle more than in the past as leaf mould and improve the gardens soil structure. It will also reduce the time that the task of clearing leaves takes, allowing volunteers more time for other tasks.
It will enable us to More.....
Moss Bank Park:
On the 9th January 2024 our volunteers had a meeting with two new appointments of Bolton council staff. Nigel Hartley (who it might be incorrect to call him new as he has work for Bolton Council over many decades) the replacement for Malcolm Russell and Zain el Mohammed who replaces the much valued and missed Andy Grundy.
The main reason for the meeting was to see about reopening the Rock Garden. The meeting was very positive and list some of the issues that More.....
Moss Bank Park:
Over the late summer and autumn 2023 with the help of the community payback team we have re gravelled all the paths in The Walled Garden. We have had a lot of positive feedback from the public as it has improved the look of the garden and made them less slippery and safer to walk on.
Friends of Moss Bank Park are celebrating 20 years of making a difference to our community.
The Friends of Moss Bank Park was formed in June 2001 - when similar groups were not as in vogue as they are now.
