Tonge and Haulgh Community Alliance
Tonge with the Haulgh Community Alliance is a collective of charities, voluntary organisations, groups, schools, youth groups, and individuals in the Tonge with the Haulgh ward. We are one of the wards in the Bolton-wide community alliance initiative.
Our aims are:
- To improve the area for those that live, work and study there by "cleaner greener" initiatives
- To encourage residents to get involved in and take responsibility
- To work towards greater connectivity by recording and distributing information about clubs, activities, organisations, support. We are working on an online map which can be widely publicised and kept up to date
- To network with residents from all backgrounds and faiths, to increase diversity and inclusivity

Many thanks for the grant from BGU
Using the funding we have received we have commissioned SAMIS Men in Sheds and they are currently underway building the water carriers. This has involved buying wood, assembling the wooden structures and metalwork to build the axles to attach the wheels. When they are completed they will be given to community groups in Tonge with the Haulgh for help in either watering local planters or for use on their own community green spaces.
