Many thanks for the grant from BGU which funded most of the cost of the purchase of a scythe, starter kit and set up training
We have set aside part of the lower graveyard at St James’ Church to create a meadow.
We are increasing the diversity of wild flowers and other plants improving the habitat for wildlife, especially pollinating insects and birds.

Brighter Breightmet
Brighter Breightmet exists to bring local people together to work on specific environmental projects, sharing skill and resources, building relationships and achieving what can't be done alone.
We began in June 2016 working on St James' Church Yard, improving access and making the site safe as well as taking measures to enrich the wildlife. We are a small group and meet every Monday from 10am - 1pm at St James' Church Yard, Roscow Avenue, Bolton, BL2 6HU.
New members always welcome, no experience necessary - tools provided. We used to provide refreshments too, but since covid hit we're asking people to bring their own such as a flask, drink or snack if you like.

Introducing the RHS Community Wellbeing Grant
As plant lovers, we know how beneficial getting your hands muddy can be for mental and physical wellbeing. Providing time away from busy lives, an opportunity to connect with new people and a chance to get out in the fresh air - gardening can help us all feel good. That's why we're thrilled to announce our new RHS Community Wellbeing Grant.

Last autumn we received a grant of £500 from BGU aimed at looking after the high street. And the residents of the surrounding streets certainly appreciate the work we’ve been doing along Rosco More.....
Below is a link to an article on the Lancashire Wildlife Trust website about Brighter Breighmet.
It was written by David Barnes, and is a wonderful insight into the work of this very active group, and the impact on local wildlife.
