HARWOOD VILLAGE STORE- thank you!
Harwood Litter Pickers | Thursday 13 August 2020 | 0 Comments
Often, we are an invisible army clearing our neighbourhood of litter. I remember the first time I picked in Harwood on my own. Some people diverted their route while others avoided eye contact. I felt like an ASBO! How times change. Locals stop and chat and some have even joined the ranks. Last year we cleared 545 bags of rubbish and various fly tips.
As litter pickers, I know the reward is in having made a difference in spite of the hard work. So when a local shopkeeper, Danielle, at Harwood Village Store,Longsight,Harwood, realised what we were doing up the side of her shop on Brookfold Lane, she did not hesitate. She asked me what the Harwood group did and after a short conversation offered each one of us a delicious cheese platters as a thank you! How good is that. If you are passing through Harwood it's worth stopping. She sells lots of local produce including Berts pies and Bolton gin! They even make gin slush for grown ups. Thanks Danielle
