Below is a message from Jane Wilcock, Secretary of the Friends of Longsight Park, acknowledging the participants in this event:

"This morning could not have gone better.
This is the end of 4 years of hard work. We now have smart flower beds at Longsight Park.
Viridor donated a lorry load of compost and thankyou also to SED Services, Wigan in provision and delivery. Patrick Killeen, the manager of Viridor Recycling Services, Bolton, came with his team and helped us massively - one of their group is a professional gardener too.
From NEWT, Chris and Simon, shovelled solidly for 3 hours.
Jacinta, our local librarian, Edna, Cllr Jackie Radcliffe, Elizabeth, Jane, David, Eileen, Lucy, Margaret, Barbara and I am sorry I don't have the names of the Viridor personnel yet, but fantastic hard work and a big thankyou.
Pansies were donated by Andy Bury"
