I've had more contacts this last year about build up's of street litter in the Lever Edge area. Also residents have been suggesting how street cleaning is limited due to parked cars and whether the machines can really get to all the nooks and crannies on the pavements and the side of the roads. Flytipping at various points has needed removing. Sometimes this is small enough to be bagged, sometimes not as it's more furniture in pieces sized.

Harper Green Lovely Environment Group
We aim to improve the Harper Green ward areas making them more lovely to be in. We want to make the best of every bit of green space and see more nature added to our more concrete urban parts.
Not only do we need to litter pick, we look at street litter bins and littering patters and look for actions to reduce the build up of litter. Some residents regularly walk the area and are aware of spots that need attention. The aim is to meet up monthly for the litter picks and action other matters in between. Interests include; community bins, wild flower areas, planters and small flower areas, behaviour change, increasing responsibility of retailers, schools and vehicle users litter behaviour.
This group covers some of the areas that cover the Harper Green ward. Sue has done litter picking with Essa Academy, at Sunnyside Park and in Lever Edge. Peter has done a lot of work around The Dell, Bradford Road, Glenside Drive, Bishops Road, Green Lane. Other residents have done a bit in some of those streets too. Residents at the Flower Estate have litter picked at Harper Green Road. Highfield Litter Pickers and their navy blue litter picker vests were once more active. We are keen to increase our volunteers.

Finally we get green improvements at 'little' Bishops Road. We are delighted with the help of Community Pay Back. In the last two years the green area has had to have all of the grass and shrub grow out as the Council decided a number of green plots in the Borough, very many actually, would not get cut back because of millions of pounds of Council cuts forced upon us.
Residents are really pleased we are getting some improvements. Ms J and Ms R do keep an eye on matters here and help a More.....
