Many thanks for the grant from BGU
the fund goes towards additional equipment not provided by the council. We would also like to purchase high viz logo coats to help keep volunteers safe and warm during bad weather
By having the appropriate equipment we can use our time more productively
The volunteers are aware of the fund and felt the money given was an endorsement of their selfless work, to keep Bolton tidy.

Litter Pickers of North Bolton
This group was setup originally to improve the environment in Egerton, Eagley, Harwood and Bromley Cross, but we now cover any area of North Bolton.
We meet up to litterpick every Sunday morning from 9:00 - 10:30 am.
The group now numbers around 40 members, consisting of around 15 who meet up on Sundays, plus another 20 - 25 who are 'lone pickers' who clear specific areas, or pick up as they walk the dog, or walk around the area.
By the end of 2018 we expect to have collected more than 14,000 bags of litter since January 2017!!
Current total as at May 2018 is 8400!!
Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers
We meet Weekly on Sundays between 9.00am and 10.30am.

Litter Pickers of North Bolton recently bought some hoops to hold open the green bags we use while litterpicking, and which make the job quicker and easier. The Litter Pickers of North Bolton teamed up with Andy of Astley Bridge Litter Pickers and Connor of Johnson Fold Litter Pickers to litterpick Alders Lane, which runs from Thicketford Road to the industrial estate in Firwood. It's a lovely lane with views over the fields with horses grazing, but used to be subject to regular horrible flytips. A gate was installed at the end of the road and this has reduced the fly-tip problem massively, so we were pleasantly surprised at the relatively More.....
Bolton's river needs YOU! Along the banks of the river, just along from the renovated Queen's Park and from the planned development on the river at Church Wharf is a dreadful eyesore - massive fly-tipping of household waste. The Bolton News ran an article about this Click here to open the link and read the story
These two dedicated litterpickers turn out with their owner on a regular basis, in all kinds of weather. What would we do without people (and dogs....) like you? Their names are Nemo and Alice, and they are great favourites with other members of the group. Unfortunately, their efforts at using the litter grabbers leave a lot to be desired, so their collection rates aren't the best.... However, their fantastic owner more than makes up for it!!
The Litterpickers of North Bolton and Litterpickers of Bolton West joined forces on Sunday 28th October, concentrating on our town's river area as part of our contribution to the national "Surfers Against Sewage" campaign.
