New Funding for BGU Volunteer Groups!
Bolton Green Umbrella | Wednesday 04 September 2019 | 0 Comments
Earlier this year, the government awarded a shared fund of £9.75 million to all local authorities across England. This grant has been dubbed ‘High Street Community Clean-Up Funding’ and it aims to assist local volunteers and councils in improving their high streets and town centres.
In April 2019, Bolton Council was awarded £49,927 and has been working closely with Bolton Green Umbrella to ensure that the funds are used as fairly and as effectively as possible. To date, new litter-picking equipment and several community litterbins have been purchased, which have already proven to be very popular and effective.
The remaining amount has now been allocated to Bolton Green Umbrella and it is our intention to distribute grants to as many of our volunteer groups as possible right across the borough. As we currently have over 50 registered groups within the organisation, the amounts will be relatively small, but Bolton Council agree that this approach will derive the maximum benefit by involving the largest number of people and communities.
The amount of funding that each individual group will be awarded is dependent upon the size of the area they cover and the nature of the work they undertake. The money can be used to purchase anything that will benefit your group, including new equipment, more PPE and even sundries such as seeds for planters or paint to spruce up fencing. Group leaders can claim their group's donation right away, but please bear in mind that once the money is, it's gone! So act fast!
Claiming is simple and should take no longer than 5 - 10 minutes to complete. Download our 'How to Claim' guide for more information and step-by-step instructions on how to submit your application. The document contains active hyperlinks to help you to navigate through the process quickly and easily.
As always, if you have any further questions about High Street Community Clean-Up Funding or experience any difficulties whilst applying for your donation, please get in touch with us.
Happy spending!
