Seven litterpicking groups joint pick

Bolton Green Umbrella organised this joint effort
On Sunday 18th November 2018 seven litterpicking groups joined forces to tackle the stretch of road from Moses Gate through to Darcy Lever - Smith's Road/Hacken Bridge Road/Hacken Lane. It's a long stretch, which rarely gets litterpicked, so Bolton Green Umbrella contacted all the groups to suggest a communal effort.
Will and Bev, landlord and landlady of The Railway pub in Moses Gate kindly opened the pub early and provided tea, coffee and biscuits for volunteers.
The groups involved were:
The Litter Pickers of Bolton West
The Litter Pickers of Bolton North
Breightmet Litter Pickers
Little Lever & Darcy Lever Litter Pickers
Friends of Moses Gate
Moses Gate Green Project
Farnworth and Kearsley Litter Pickers

Little Lever/Darcy Lever and Breightmet started at Darcy Lever end, while Friends of Moses Gate, Moses Gate Green Project and Farnworth and Kearsley started at Moses Gate End. Bolton North and Bolton West started in the middle and worked outwards. Other areas of Moses Gate were also litterpicked and the total number of bags collected was an astonishing 137! These were collected by Bolton Council the following morning.

Breightmet Litter Pickers Facebook posting:
41 bags of litter and fly tipping collected with Darcy Lever/Little Lever pickers on our stretch of Hacken Lane. Other litter picking groups tackled the other end. Fantastic coming together to make our town a much cleaner area.

The Litterpickers of North Bolton Facebook posting:
Today we worked as part of a lean mean litter picking group machine Litter picking on Hacken Lane / smith Lane area with 7 other litter picking groups
We managed 50 bags and realised you donít see a lot of the litter from the car , but on foot we noticed litter everywhere
Iím sure we will be back to do another pick
Thank you to our volunteers xx

Litterpickers of Bolton West Facebook posting
Lots of road and hedgerows to litter pick this morning. Despite only picking one side of the road for the stretch between the sports field and the commercial building I still managed to accumulate 10 or 11 bags plus buckets, a white pole, a blue sack full of rubbish, a road sign and a sand bag. (Awaiting totals from Alan and junior litter picker, Ben) I also unburied a Hacken Bridge Road sign so that might be helpful. Bolton North had more people and managed 50 bags on their stretch and weren't too tired to take pictures. Have a look on their page. Not sure about the other groups' totals but it was definitely nice to meet volunteers from the Darcy Lever and Breightmet Groups who go 41 bags.

Today's litter pick from Moses Gate to darcy lever was constructive and all in all a great day thanks to everyone who turned out. Thanks to Will and Bev for the tea and coffee at the railway today
