How to get contaminated bins removed
Bolton Green Umbrella | Saturday 27 March 2021 | 0 Comments
A very common problem is that of “contaminated” bins. This is a bin intended for recycled waste ONLY but which has been used for the wrong items, meaning they will not be emptied in normal bin collections. The householder then sometimes dumps the bin somewhere away from the property and, following the “broken window” pattern, it often becomes a target for yet more dumping and flytipping. Below is advice from Bolton Council about how members of the public can assist them in locating and removing these eyesores.
The quickest and easiest way to get contaminated bins removed is to email Waste & Recycling <firstname.lastname@example.org> with the number, colour, and location of the bins (e.g. 2 beige and 1 burgundy bins at the back of 81 Chorley Street). A picture would also help if that is possible. The bins are removed by the same team that deliver new bins when they are in the area meaning that, if all goes to plan and depending on capacity, bins should be gone within a week.
If the volunteer or member of the public would rather ring up, they can report the bins through the contact centre 01204 336632
If it is urgent/hazardous/blocking road etc, you can report it to : email@example.com, The co-ordinator will then speak directly with one of the operatives and see if it is possible to get them moved asap
